Gina has been in the veterinary field since 1982 and has been with AHVC since 2000. She has always had a strong passion for animals. As a youngster growing up in Warrenton, Virginia, she was very involved in showing horses (hunter/jumpers). In adulthood, she became an avid exhibitor of Labrador Retrievers at AKC conformation shows. She was blessed to have had and bred a few of the top winning labs in the nation. With the birth of her children, Gina no longer has time to show dogs, however, her daughter, Sydney, has followed in her footsteps and is actively involved in showing horses.
Gina grew up primarily in Virginia but also spent several years living in Germany and Iran. She was married and settled in Charleston in 1982. She and her husband Charlie have two children, Cole and Sydney. Her family is her pride and joy. Also included in that family are Thyme and Mosey (Labs), Mr. Hobbs (cat), Strawberry (horse).
After all the years in this field, Gina still loves working with the animals and "their people" as much as she did the first day.

In June 2012, after working with horses for two years, she relocated to the Charleston area and started working at Air Harbor. Katherine lives with her husband Derreck, dog Xena and cat Bandit.

For more than 18 years our family have been privelaged to have the two Drs. Southard take care of our pets. They are compassionate and caring. I also enjoy never feeling rushed out of the exam room while they patiently explain why and what they are doing during a medical exam, or taking the time to answer any concerns. Thanks.
The vets and staff at Air Harbor are truly one of a kind. The genuine care and professionalism they show us is outstanding. They are the perfect vet office for me and Daisy. With no reservations at all, I highly recommend them to anyone in the Charleston area looking for a veterinarian.
Thank you to Dr Jim (Sr) for calling on Sunday afternoon to check on Nia after her seizure on Saturday. Air Harbor has such a wonderful & caring team that we just love! Wouldn't think of taking my fur babies anywhere else.
I've been taking my animals to Air Harbor practically my entire life! My parents always went there with my childhood pets, and now I continue the tradition. The personal relationship with Air Harbor vets and staff is immeasurable. The care received is invaluable. They treat you like you and your pets are their only, and most important clients, and that means a lot nowadays!
All our dogs have been members of the Air Harbor family. They excel at diagnosis and treatment of unusual conditions and the personal attention they offer every family. The entire staff makes sure you are comfortable with any treatments given as well as assuring you your pet will receive personal attention during their boarding stays.
From the girls in the front office to the vet techs who handle your pet, you and your pet are welcomed with a smile and greeted by name. We recommend them highly for the care of a new pet or the transfer from another vet's office. You can be confident that your pet will be well taken care of.
My family and I have used this vet for almost 30 years. They are wonderful. The father son team is brilliant and kind and have wonderful bedside manner.
